City Island on Android

It has been quite a while now since we started working on our first Android game. In september 2011 we started the development process but it won’t be long before it will arrive on the Android Market! Or Google Play as it is now called. Last year was very succesfull for big game developing companies like Zynga and Game Insight. It became clear that there is a huge market for social games on Facebook and mobile devices like iPhone/iPad and Android handsets and tablets. Games like FarmVille and CityVille are still played by millions of people every day. City Island for Android

The possibility of in-game payments makes it possible for people to play these games for free. The real addicts however, will be forced to pay little money to keep on playing (restoring energy, adding extra in-game currency, etcetera). These small payments make it possible to make these games profitable: it is very likely people will pay more in the game, then they would normally pay for buying such a game. Success stories of games like Paradise Island made us decide to shift our focus towards the ever growing mobile industry. Our first game is a SimCity type of game: a challenging city building game where you have to focus on balance. You will need to make your citizens happy with decorations and community buildings, provide them with homes, and build commercial buildings to create jobs. The only way to earn money is by building this commercial types of buildings like a farm, bakery, cinema, italian restaurant, office, etcetera. In order to make profit you will need employees. In order to hire those people you need citizens. In order to have citizens you need residences. In order to attract people to your city you will need to build parks, schools, churches, firedepartments, etcetera. This game is aiming to be released in May (2012), and will be available in Google Play (formerly known as Android Market), for all Android devices, so it is possible to play it on your 10″ tablet in HD as well.]]>
